Reasons to get your Xiaomi Redmi 1S rooted
Howdy! Like the usual questions found in the internet regarding "why should I root my android phone?" or anything alike, the simple answer is to unlock the hidden features/capability of your android gadget. Once you have unchained your phone, it will much easier to apply tweaks on the phone such as installing scripts and custom ROMs that may result to a better battery, RAM, and CPU management.Whats the best thing with rooting your Redmi 1S is you dont have to worry about losing your warranty. What?!
Like I mentioned, you dont have to worry of the "rooting voids warranty" thing cause Xiaomi is really open for root users. This information was given by Xiaomis Product Manager in India.

Note: Once you have installed the root update, you will no longer receive official OTA firmware updates. However, you can still revert the root update by following the unrooting guide still found at the bottom-part of this article.
Disclaimer: This procedure was already tested but still you are responsible for any damage that it may cause. Please read and follow the instructions carefully to avoid facing trouble.
Things you need:
- A working Xiaomi Redmi 1S unit in hand
- Root(Redmi1s).zip update file

Rooting instruction:
- Download the Root(Redmi1s).zip file and place it in your phones internal storage (outside any folder).
- Rename the Root(Redmi1s).zip to update.zip.
- Turn off your phone.
- Go to Recovery mode by pressing Power and Volume Up button at the same time.
- Select English as the language.
- Now select and Install update.zip to System.
- Wait for a while and Reboot your phone once it asks.
- After rebooting, go to Security app -- select Permission and from there, activate Root permission.
- Done.

How to unroot Xiaomi Redmi 1S?
You can disable the root permission by deactivating it in the Security -- Permission as shown above but this wont allow you to revert the update, therefore still you wont receive any OTA updates. To fix this issue, youll need to follow this guide below.
Things you need:
- Redmi 1S phone in hand
- UnRootNative_Redmi1S.zip update file
Unroot procedure:
- Once again, go to Sercurity app -- select Permission and deactivate the Root permission.
- Download the UnRootNative_Redmi1S.zip file and make sure to place it at the root of your phones internal storage. (That means just place it in your internal storage without putting it inside of any folders.)
- Rename the said file to update.zip.
- Shutdown your phone.
- Boot to Recovery mode by pressing Power and Volume Up button all at once.
- Select English.
- Then, select and Install update.zip to System.
- Wait for a moment Reboot your phone if prompted.
- Done.
