Locking Unlocking the Bootloader on a Samsung Galaxy S8 S8 Unlocking and Re-locking the Bootloader is surprisingly simple on the Samsung Galaxy S8 series. With most devices, you have to enable Developer Options, enable OEM Unlock and then boot into Fastboot mode and execute a command such as Fastboot oem unlock from a PC. With the Samsung Galaxy S8, simply flipping the switch in Developer Options locks and unlocks the bootloader. No further action is required - indeed the S8 does not even have a fastboot mode, so you couldnt execute fastboot commands even if you wanted to! NOTE: Most of the Snapdragon varieties of the Galaxy S8 / S8+ have locked bootloaders. The OEM Unlock feature will not be present if this is the case. Enable Developer Options 1. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Bootloader Unlocking Today I finally received a text message from Xiaomi, granting me the ability to unlock the bootloader on my Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which I use as my primary backup phone (yeah, I have a lot of backup phones!). I have been quite the fan of Xiaomi during 2015, with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 topping the list of the best bang-for-your-buck phone of the year. It is currently available for about �90 imported from China & has fantastic specs for the price. When the all-metal Redmi Note 3 came out, I couldnt resist importing one. When you get a Xiaomi phone from a Chinese importer, they almost always replace the default Xiaomi firmware & replace it with a shop ROM. The shop ROM generally removes all or most of the Chinese apps and adds in the Play store and a multitude of additional languages.
